Donald G. Bathurst, Chief Administrative Officer

Opening Session
Donald Bathurst is Chief Administrative Officer, Department of Homeland Security. He is responsible for the delivery of administrative services to the Department of Homeland Security, including facilities acquisition and facilities management, inventory management, records management, health and safety programs, environmental compliance, motor pool and fleet management, and management of a customer service center. Mr. Bathurst has received numerous public and private sector awards, including the 1992 Arthur S. Flemming Award as one of the top five managers in Federal service and the NSPE Federal Engineer of the Year award for GSA. His contributions to risk management and fire performance estimation have been internationally recognized, most notably by the Society of Fire Protection Engineer's President's Award. He is a Fellow of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers. Mr. Bathurst is a member of the Federal Government's Senior Executive Service and holds a Bachelor of Science in Fire Protection Engineering from the University of Maryland and a Master of Public Administration from American University.
Samuel W. Bodman, Secretary

Samuel Wright Bodman was sworn in as the 11th Secretary of Energy on February 1, 2005. He leads the Department of Energy with a budget in excess of $23 billion and over 100,000 Federal and contractor employees. Previously, Secretary Bodman served as Deputy Secretary of the Treasury beginning in February 2004 and as the Deputy Secretary of the Department of Commerce beginning in 2001. A financier and executive by trade, with three decades of experience in the private sector, Secretary Bodman was well suited to manage the day-to-day operations of both cabinet agencies. Prior to joining the Federal Government, Secretary Bodman was an Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering at MIT and began his work in the financial sector as Technical Director of the American Research and Development Corporation, a pioneer venture capital firm. He and his colleagues provided financial and managerial support to scores of new business enterprises located throughout the United States. Secretary Bodman went to Fidelity Venture Associates, a division of the Fidelity Investments. In 1983 he was named President and Chief Operating Officer of Fidelity Investments and a Director of the Fidelity Group of Mutual Funds. In 1987, he joined Cabot Corporation, a Boston-based Fortune 300 company with global business activities in specialty chemicals and materials, where he served as Chairman, CEO, and a Director. Over the years, he has been a Director of many other publicly owned corporations. Secretary Bodman has also been active in public service. He is a former Director of M.I.T.'s School of Engineering Practice and a former member of the M.I.T. Commission on Education. He also served as a member of the Executive and Investment Committees at M.I.T., a member of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences, and a Trustee of the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum and the New England Aquarium. He received a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering from Cornell University and a ScD at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Michael Broome, Founder and President

Closing Session
At our closing luncheon, you will hear from Michael Broome. Mr. Broome is the Founder and President of Broyhill Leadership Conferences. At GovEnergy, Mr. Broome will be sharing with us how to "Be a People Power Person." This educational session will provide useful insights to help improve interaction with employees, customers, and family. Michael will teach his principles of teamwork and the art of working and living with others. Areas he will emphasize include managing, serving, leading, critiquing, praising, persuading and listening. Michael personally believes that whatever position you hold, that all people are in the "people business."
Michael Broome is known as one of the best motivational speakers in all of America, using humor to help show his audiences how to stay sane in an overworked world.
Since 1978, Michael has spoken to over 2,900 audiences including associates and employees from the public and private sector. His client list ranges from the United States Department of Commerce to Radio Shack.
Broome is also the founder and president of Broyhill Leadership Conferences, which are week-long programs for teens where they are taught how to set goals, develop their self esteem and overcome negative peer pressure. Over 27,000 teens have attended Michael's camps and experienced his life changing lessons first hand.

Lurita Doan, Administrator

Opening Session
On May 31, 2006, Lurita Alexis Doan became the 18th Administrator of the General Services Administration And she is the first woman to serve as the agency's Chief Executive. Until July 2005, Mrs. Doan was the president, CEO, and sole owner of a surveillance technology company she founded in 1990. Most recently, she served on the Presidential Search Committee to select Vassar College's 10th president; the Steering Committee for the Women's Majority Network founded by U.S. Senator Elizabeth Dole; and the Steering Committee for the soon-to-be-built Shakespeare Theatre Harman Center for the Arts in Washington, DC. Mrs. Doan is the recipient of several awards for innovation and entrepreneurship, including the Committee of 200 Visionary Award and the Department of Commerce Award for Entrepreneurial Innovation.
A native of New Orleans, LA., Mrs. Doan received Bachelor's degree from Vassar College and a Master's in Renaissance Literature from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. Before entering the field of computer technology, Mrs. Doan taught at several colleges in the Washington, DC area, including the University of the District of Columbia, Marymount University, and Catholic University of America.

Elizabeth T. Galante, Director of New Orleans Office and Resource Center
Global Green USA
Opening Session
As the Director of Global Green's New Orleans Office and Resource Center, Elizabeth Galante will provide insight to the sustainable rebuilding initiatives underway in New Orleans. Several of their projects, including Global Green USA's Katrina Relief Effort - "Healthy Homes, Smart Neighborhoods Response Team," and their highly publicized Sustainable Design Competition, outline Global Green's dedication to the green rebuilding of New Orleans. Ms.Galante will provide a local perspective on these rebuilding efforts.
Ms. Galante is responsible for the operation of Global Green USA's New Orleans Office and Resource Center, supervision of the development and construction of the winner of the Sustainable Design Competition, the Green Schools Initiative, and other rebuilding initiatives including green affordable housing and sustainable building legislation advocacy.
She is the former Deputy Director of the Tulane Environmental Law Clinic, which was the first recipient of the American Bar Association's Distinguished Environmental Achievement Award during her tenure. The clinic also received recognition from the National Law Journal for its ground-breaking work in the field of environmental justice under her leadership. Her prior legal work includes representation of the New Jersey Attorney General and the Quapaw Indian Nation in natural resource damages litigation.
Ms. Galante has her Masters in Energy and Environmental Law and her J.D. from Tulane University Law School.

Alexander A. Karsner
Assistant Secretary, Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy

Alexander "Andy" Karsner became DOE's ninth Assistant Secretary for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) on March 23, 2006. He is responsible for managing the Department's $1.47 billion applied science, research, development, and deployment portfolio, which promotes marketplace integration of renewable and environmentally sound energy technologies. His Office also bears primary responsibility for education, conservation, regulation and efficient use of our nation's energy resources, including Federal energy management, building codes, appliance standards, and the Energy Star® program, amongst others. Assistant Secretary Karsner leads Administration efforts to implement several prominent Presidential Initiatives, including "The 20 in 10 Plan" to reduce our dependency on gasoline 20 percent by 2001; and "The Advanced Energy Initiative," which aims to accelerate breakthroughs in the way we power our cars, homes, and businesses; both announced by President Bush in consecutive State of the Union Addresses. The Assistant Secretary is an accomplished scholar, was a Rotary International Fellow, and received an MA from Hong Kong University. He graduated with Honors from Rice University and subsequently received the prestigious Hugh Scott Cameron Award as Outstanding Alumnus.
