Metering Special Session
Date: Sunday, August 19
Time: 12:30pm – 4:00pm
Location: TBD
Event Description: For the first time in its 15 year history, GovEnergy has organized its own unique pre-training event in conjunction with the Workshop and Trade Show. This half-day workshop will offer attendees a multi-perspective approach to effective metering management at the federal and industry levels. The workshop is open to all GovEnergy registrants at no extra cost, and is divided into three special sessions that will focus on:
1) Harnessing Meter Data to Improve Federal Energy Management Programs: This session will explore what the various agencies have done to satisfy the requirements of EPAct 2005 regarding metering. Attendees will discover how to turn compliance into cost saving, and how to avoid the pitfalls that have stalled and otherwise exceeded costs expectations for Federal Agencies to implement.
2) Tailoring Your Advanced Meter Infrastructure (AMI) Program to Maximize ROI: This session will explore the factors that contribute to the ROI of your AMI program from both a system cost and operational savings perspective. Attendees will discover how to leverage an AMI system to improve power system reliability, optimize utility assets, spur positive behavioral change, enable microgrid capabilities, and lower O&M costs.
3) Overcoming the IT Challenge: This session will explore the aspects of data collection and network management that have made the installation of meters less effective than expected. Attendees will learn what to do to describe and certify your MDMS in the new NIST IT Risk Management Framework. A successful case study from the U.S. Navy will also serve as a jumping off point to discuss concepts like “reciprocity.”
